Mama Miaou! Et oui aujourd’hui c’est l‘artwork de la semaine #8 nouveau et on fête ça avec des chats, plein de chats puisque l’on se rend en Italie pour découvrir qui est Jonathan Calugi a.k.a Lovers Town. Autant le dire dès maintenant, à la base je ne suis pas du tout fan de ce type d’illustration, mais là, ce petit côté enfantin, Barbapapa mélangé avec des chats et le tout ultra coloré je trouve que ça marche bien, comme dirait l’autre. En bref, si il fallait décrire en 3 mots les artworks de Lovers Town ça serait : chat, minimal, gribouillage. Car oui lorsque l’on observe ses dessins on a bel et bien l’impression de retourner en primaire, ce temps joyeux où la maîtresse me tirait les oreilles quand je faisais des conneries, lorsque l’on montrait nos zizis aux jeunes filles qui nous montraient leur zezette. Donc Lovers Town = Zezette? Non! Lovers Town c’est aussi des collaborations avec Nike, Billabong, Sony, Apple etc… ainsi que des représentations de nos héros préférés (Batman, Spiderman, Robin des Bois et même Mickey, vous pouvez acheter ou juste regarder les posters ICI) retravaillés dans un esprit tout autre que Sakiroo Choi qui lui nous montrait leur côté sadique (voir Artwork de la semaine #4). Si on devait les comparer, Calugi serait l’enfant et Sakiroo le Marc Dutroux. Yes, today it’s the new Artwork Of The Week #8 and we’re gonna celebrate that with cats, loads of cats because we’re going in Italy to meet Jonathan Calugi aka Lovers Town. We can say it now, usually I’m not a fan of this kind of illustration, but here, this childlike touch, Barbapapa mixed with cats and ultra colored, I feel it works well, as the other could say. To summarize, if I had to describe the Lovers Town’s artworks with 3 words, I would use: cat, minimal, doodles. Because when we look at these drawings, we just feel like we’re going back to primary school, this happy time when the teacher pulled my ears because I made bullshits, when we showed our willies to young girls who showed us their pussy cat. So Lovers Town = Pussy cat? Nope! Lovers Town is also collaborations with Nike, Billabong, Sony, Apple and even representations of our favorite heroes (Batman, Spiderman, Robin Hood or Mickey, you can check or buy it the posters HERE) reworked in another spirit than Sakiroo Choi, who showed us their sadistic side (watch the AOTW #4). If we had to compare them, Calugi would be the child and Sakiroo the Marc Dutroux.
